Explore illustration with local illustrator Liv Bargman. Over a full day, Liv will help you navigate character exploration, mood, atmosphere, tone. lighting, texture and, objects.
You will work on approaches to placing characters within a scene, drawing on mood of inhabitable settings. You will look towards how atmosphere is presented in other work, and how to truly engage with the reader or viewer through emotion and tone.
In the morning the focus will be on character design with a shift to mood, atmosphere and context in the afternoon. Liv will set a series of exercises through the day to stimulate and trigger ideas.
Saturday 28 September
Morning session 10am-12noon
Afternoon session 1-3pm
One hour crit 3-4pm
Bring a pack lunch or you can wander into Ludlow to find something yummy at the many independent venues around.

Liv Bargman
Hailing from Montgomery, mid Wales, Liv works from her home studio in Bishop’s
Castle, South Shropshire. She uses a mixture of paints, pens, digital colour, crayons and, inks to make textures and marks for children’s publishing, books and magazines.
Liv studied Illustration at Falmouth College of Art, and an MA in Art and Science at
Central St Martins. Clients include Aquila Magazine, Big Picture Press, Marie Curie, Nuffield Primary Care Health Sciences, Policy Lab Gov UK, Tommy’s Baby Charity.
